Afrobeat legend, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti’s memories were brought back alive last weekend, as he was celebrated his contributions to humanity at the Pan African Legacy Awards. The ‘abami eda’ was represented by his grandson and afrobeat musician, Made, who received the honour on his behalf.
Nigerians from all walks of life were also recognised for impacting society positively.
Explaining the inspiration behind the award ceremony, the convener, Tosin Owolabi, stated that the award had been running for about a decade, initially with the name, ‘Legacy Awards’ before being changed to ‘The Pan African Legacy Awards’, with a wider scope of celebrating the unsung heroes who are doing things worthy of celebration
A lifetime achievement award was also presented to fiery lawyer, Femi Falana (SAN), and his wife, Funmi.
Also, Abisoye Obayan was presented with the award of ‘Music Entrepreneur of the Year’; while Rose Mordi got the award for ‘Healthcare and Humanity’.
