The Assembly subsequently summoned the consultant and the contractor and the Ministry of Water Resources to appear before the lawmakers.
A statement by the Press Secretary to the Speaker, Kunle Alabi, obtained in Osogbo, said while speaking at the plenary, the Speaker, Timothy Owoeye, warned those summoned against disregarding the invite.
Owoeye said the Assembly would not fail to order their arrest, should any of the affected persons fail to comply with the summons.
He stated that the Ilesa water project had gulped so much money, with little work to show for the amount already expended.
The Speaker then said the state Ministry of Water Resources, the contractor, and the consultant of the project should appear before the Assembly on November 29 to explain issues surrounding the execution of the project.
Alabi’s statement quoting the Speaker further read, “We are not happy with what is going on with the Ilesa water project. All those involved, especially the Ministry of Water Resources, the consultant, the contractor and the sub-contractor, they should all appear before the Assembly on Tuesday 29th of this month.
“Our findings revealed that the contractor in charge of the water project had collected a lot of money without doing much. They must be brought to book because tax payers money is involved.
“They will need to come and explain to the public what is delaying the completion of the project when much had been provided and given to the contractor in charge.”
