The allegation was contained in a letter dated November 26, 2022 by the counsel to the party, Abimbola Ige, addressed to the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone XI, Osogbo.
The party asked for intervention to prevent breakdown of law and order in council secretariats in the state.
The party said those planning to attack council secretariats wanted to use the judgement of the Federal High Court of Osogbo that sacked the elected officials in the local government areas as reason.
The APC, however, said it has filed notice of appeal and motion for stay
of execution of the judgment.
The letter partly reads, “Barring any unforeseen circumstances and without the quick intervention of your good offices, the Peoples’ Democratic Party, Osun State chapter has perfected plans to march on all local governments across the state on Monday the 28th day of November, 2022 with a view to formenting trouble by assaulting anyone at sight, destroying and vandalising any
property of government, those personally owned by the local government officials as well as those belonging to chieftains and prominent members of our client.
“TAKE NOTICE that the posturing of the Peoples’ Democratic Party as
enumerated above should not be treated with kid’s gloves as lives and properties of Osun people for which your good offices is statutorily set up to protect are at stake.
“It is important to note that Osun cannot afford the loss of lives of any of her sons and daughters as witnessed in Ede with respect to the gruesome murder of Olalekan Abideen and Olalekan Kafayat in the wake of July 16 gubernatorial election.
“In view of the above, we call on your office to swing into action with the
immediacy this report of intending mayhem planned on Osun people by Peoples Democratic Party requires.”
