The Special Assistant to the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), on New Media, Bashir Ahmad, has celebrated the exit of the National Treasurer of the New Nigeria People’s Party, Shehu Ningi, from the party.
The PUNCH had reported that Ningi, in a letter he wrote to the Ningi Ward Chairman of the NNPP, dated November 25, 2022, said he had decided to quit his position as National Treasurer as well as membership of the party “for personal reasons.”
The one-time Bauchi State Chairman of the NNPP said he would make known his next move and which political party he will be joining this week.
Ningi who was in the All Progressives Congress dumped the party and went to the PRP; later dumped the party and went back to the APC before joining the NNPP.
While in the APC, he became a Commissioner of Budget and Planning under the administration of Mohammed Abubakar, and later resigned from his appointment on December 23rd, 2016 claiming that he was being “marginalized” by the governor.
He joined the People’s Redemption Party and later became the PRP Chairman in Bauchi State. But on October 17th, 2020, Ningi, in a letter addressed to the National Chairman of the PRP, Falalu Bello, said he was resigning as a member and Chairman of the party in Bauchi State.
After resigning, he went back to his former party, the APC.
In a tweet on Saturday night, the Presidential Aide said he was hopeful that Ningi would join the APC again.
“The NNPP National Treasurer, Shehu Barau Ningi, has dumped the party. We hope to welcome him to our great party, the APC,” he tweeted.
