The ruling party had on October 20 unveiled a revised PCC list to replace the previous 422 names of the newly constituted Presidential Campaign Council.
There were, however, few surprises on the harmonised list which saw the National Chairman of the party, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, as number two on the campaign list right below the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), who retained his position as the Chairman of the PCC.
New directorates such as Finance Planning, Grassroots Engagement and Orientation, Special Duties, Campaign Planning, Agro Commodities and Civil Societies were included in the list while the Creative Arts department was expanded from 20 actors to accommodate 11 additional celebrities.
But an emotional Onunkwo expressed regret that he wasn’t even considered fit to be listed as a ‘cleaner’ on the campaign list.
The COSGAS national president, who expressed his disappointment at the inauguration of over 200 APC support groups on Tuesday in Abuja, however, stated that he had left the experience behind him and resolved to work for the victory of Tinubu.
He said, “I was surprised at my exclusion from the PCC, having been a two-time governorship aspirant and a major financier of this party in Anambra. I started from AD, AC, ACN and now APC. I have done a lot in South East. I am the grand commander of Anambra and Eze Ndigbo Youths Worldwide.
“At a point, we thought some names didn’t come out because those people were candidates. But we later saw the majority of names of people who were candidates on that list.
“Having consulted with the campaign council to ensure our names were involved, because we believe in Tinubu and Shettima, we were surprised to discover that we were not considered worthy of being on the campaign list as cleaners. I have seen some names on that PCC list that can’t generate quantum supporters.
“I am voicing it out because it pained me so much. But this does not stop me from what we are doing. All that glitters is not gold. We are also watching because we know the end justifies the means.
“I don’t want anybody to see this as a threat. It’s just to for them to streamline and make sure that whoever calls himself leader of a support group must be thoroughly investigated and screened before verification. What we are doing is to make sure we win frictionlessly.
“We are sure of 10 million votes for Asiwaju Tinubu. The essence of our database that we have collected is to be handed over to the management of the campaign council for them to use their hands and do the verification, because a lot of people are coming out to say support groups are mere support groups.”
