An afrobeat and afro-pop singer and producer, Segun Adegboye, aka Shawbit, says that his debut Extended Play album titled, ‘King Shaw’ tells the story of different phases in his life.
In a statement sent to Saturday Beats, he said, “The project is a medley of life, pain, love and party vibes. Each track has a story to tell.”
Speaking on the concept behind the five songs on the EP, Shawbit said, “Oje’ is a track that takes me down memory lane. It is tied to my childhood, friends and the environment I grew up in. ‘Hello’ is more of a party and love vibes for the ladies. Meanwhile, ‘For my Yard’ came from a place of pain. (When I made the song), I had just had a fallout with a friend I least expected it from, and it was an unpleasant experience. As regards ‘Lamba Limbo’, it is also a party vibe for different categories of people; while ‘Love Energy’ is an energetic love song. When one is with the right person, one would want to do more; not only for the person one loves but also for oneself.”
