The Performing Musicians Employers Association of Nigeria has acquired a new office in the Lekki area of Lagos State.
A statement sent to Saturday Beats noted that PMAN executives, led by the president, Pretty Okafor, acquired the multi-million-naira edifice in Lekki, to be used as the association’s corporate office; and as part of its strategy for the ongoing biometric card registration drive being implemented in conjunction with Zenith Bank.
Okafor stated that the decision to acquire a property in the highbrow Lekki was aimed at repositioning and rebranding the union, as well as bridging the gap between PMAN and new generation artistes.
He said, “We consider it necessary to have an office that is accessible to both artistes and the corporate world. We want to ensure that musicians receive proper remunerations for their creative works, both home and abroad. Through the acquisition of this property, we are sending an important message to Nigerian musicians and the corporate sector that PMAN is back in business.”
Okafor added that the new building was equipped with ultra-modern facilities, such as a digital music library, radio station, conference rooms, and VIP lounge.
He also maintained that the association would have its presence in all the six geo-political regions of the country, as it embarks on data capturing of over six million potential members across the country.
