Three men who allegedly robbed and murdered a businessman, Chidi Onwukwe were on Tuesday remanded by a Rivers State High court in the Port Harcourt Correctional Services Centre.
The defendants were accused of committing the crime on January 27, 2021.
The defendants in the charge marked PHC/667/CR/2022 filed by the Police, were Samuel Onwukwe, 1st Defendant, Promise George, 2nd Defendant and Blessed Nathan, 3rd Defendant,
According to the police, Onwukwe was murdered in his home in Elelenwo, Port Harcourt and the killers made away with his phones and other valuables. They also transferred money from his bank account.
Justice Sylvester Popnen made the remand order after the defendants pleaded not guilty to a four-count charge bordering on conspiracy, armed robbery, illegal possession of arms and murder.
Following the not-guilty plea of the defendants the prosecution counsel Essien Edet, urged the court to remand the defendants pending substantive trial.
