Political parties are considering motivating registered voters to collect their Permanent Voters Cards by providing incentives, Saturday PUNCH has learnt.
The Chairman of the Inter-party Advisory Committee, Yabagi Sani, said most parties would resolve in doing this to encourage those who had yet to collect theirs to do so from Monday.
He also noted that political parties were trying their best to sensitise registered voters on the need to collect their PVCs ahead of the 2023 general election.
On what his party is doing to encourage the electorate, Sani, who is also the presidential candidate of Action Democratic Party, noted that his party was planning on giving incentives as a way of motivating registered voters to quickly obtain their PVCs.
The PUNCH had reported that the Independent National Electoral Commission said collection of PVCs for those who registered from January-July 2022 would commence at its offices in each of the 774 Local Government Areas across the country from Monday, December 12, 2022.
The commission also stated that the collection of PVCs would be decentralised to wards from January 6, 2023.
However, speaking with our correspondent on Friday, Sani said there were plans to reward voters who would pick up their PVCs.
He noted, “On our part as ADP, we are even coming up with a kind of incentive for people who collect their PVCs. We will reward them in one way or the other.”
