Just as 26-year-old Chimeka Woke, an Ikwerre, Rivers State-born legal practitioner was beginning to get worried about how to raise enough money to pay for an apartment to move his wife and 11-month-old baby into, telecommunications giant, Globacom, came to the rescue by making him a landlord at a colourful ceremony on Friday.
The brand new three-bedroom apartment was presented to Woke following his successful emergence as winner of the Glo Festival of Joy house prize draw a day earlier.
Woke said he had been thinking in the last few weeks of how to mobilise funds to rent an apartment that his small family of wife and daughter would move into.
“It was as if God and Globacom were monitoring me,” he disclosed enthusiastically, even as he expressed to the telecommunication giant for initiating and sustaining such a huge subscriber-reward programme.
During the presentation event, the Ahoada Local Government Chairman, Barrister Ben Eke, said that Globacom has established a reputation for giving back to society. “For giving people opportunity to own a house, I must congratulate you. I am going to be your ambassador in propagating your good works”, he said.
The Head of Licensing and Operations at the Port Harcourt Zonal Office of the National Lottery Regulatory Commission, Mr Walson Dambo, said the commission had been following the promo to ensure the right of consumers and commended Globacom for its commitment to the success of the promo.
The Glo Festival of Joy promo is offering 20 houses and thousands of other amazing prizes including 24 brand new cars, power generators, sewing machines and rechargeable fans to subscribers to reward their loyalty.
“To participate in this promo, voice and data customers just have to dial *611# and recharge with N500 weekly to stand a chance to win the rechargeable fan, N2,500 monthly recharge for the sewing machine, N5,000 monthly recharge for the generator, and N10,000 monthly recharge for the car,” Globacom explained.
