The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar and his running mate, Delta State Governor, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, have landed in Anambra State to campaign ahead of the 2023 General Elections.
Amid tight security and a massive crowd, the presidential candidate of the PDP, who landed at Ekwueme Square, Awka at about 2:10 pm on Thursday, promised to unite Nigeria, tackle insecurity and unemployment if elected president in the February 25, 2023, presidential election in the country.
Before arriving the Ekwueme Square, Atiku and his running mate, which also included the Sokoto State Governor, Alhaji Amini Tambuwal, as well as the candidates of the party, had visited the Governor’s Lodge in Amawbia, where they met Governor Chukwuma Soludo, before proceeding to the Government House to meet all the traditional rulers of the state, headed by the Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Alfred Achebe.
The rally was also for senatorial, House of Representatives and state Assembly candidates of the state.
While addressing supporters, Atiku promised to unite Nigerians by treating each zone equitably and providing security for everybody.
He also promised to dredge the River Niger and make the Onitsha a functional seaport.
According to him, without security, peace and unity, there will never be any development in the country.
“My vision and mission as the president are to unite Nigeria, bring peace and provide adequate security for the people of Nigeria.
I will give every section its due right. Thank you for this wonderful reception, I never thought I would get such a reception in Anambra State,” he said.
