The Osun State Government has suspended the implementation of new school fees for students in the state-owed polytechnic in Iree, Osun State Polytechnic.
The directive suspending the implementation of the new school fees was contained in a memo signed by the Permanent Secretary, Osun State Ministry of Education, Adelani Aderinola, a copy of which was obtained by newsmen in Osogbo on Friday.
The memo, addressed to the acting rector of the polytechnic, dated December 15, also indicated that the new fee regime was to take effect as from the commencement of the 2023 academic session.
It however said implementation of the new fee regime was suspended sequel to change of government in the state.
It further read in part, “Further to your letter reference number OSPOLY/BUR/101/VII/239 dated December 13, 2022 on notification of approved fee for the 2022/2023 academic session, the management of the institution should suspend the implementation of the new school fees regime because of the recent change in leadership of the state.”
