According to a statement issued by the spokesman for the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, in the state, Adamu Shehu, the incident happened on Friday at about 11pm when fire razed a hut while the victims were asleep.
The statement said, “The fire incident engulfed a hut, where the 30-year-old mother was sleeping alongside with her two daughters, four-year-old Aisha and two-year-old Rabi.
The statement further explained that the mother and her daughters were completely consumed by the inferno, as none of the victims was rescued alive.
“The cause of the fire was unknown, but neighbours said it might not be unconnected to a charcoal fire that was meant to keep them warm,’’ the statement said.
Meanwhile, according to the statement, the remains of the victims were conveyed to a nearby hospital, where medical doctors, who were on emergency duty, confirmed them dead, all of whom have since been buried according to Islamic rites.
