Suspected kidnappers have killed a man, Mr Augustine Okoye, along Isua-Ise Akoko highway in the Akoko South East Local Government Area of Ondo State.
PUNCH Metro gathered that the deceased was kidnapped along with his wife.
While the hoodlums released the woman, her husband was killed.
A source said the car which conveyed the victims had been recovered from the scene of the incident by the police, adding that the victim died after a ransom was paid.
The source said, “Men of the state police command, Ondo Amotekun corps and local vigilance groups are now combing the forest to recover the remains of the deceased and arrest the suspects.
“The wife of the deceased disclosed that their abductors warned her not to tell the negotiators who were bringing money about the husband’s demise otherwise she would also be killed. This notorious Ise-Isua Road has recorded many cases of kidnapping in recent times.”
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Mrs Funmilayo Odunlami, who confirmed the incident, disclosed that one person had been arrested in connection with the incident.
“We have arrested one suspect over the incident and the anti-kidnapping section has taken over the matter,” the PPRO said.
