The APC-PCC said the investigation by military authorities became necessary to ensure that there was no negligence of any sort and for lessons to be learnt and guide future expeditions.
The coordinator of the APC-PCC in the state and senatorial candidate for Zamfara Central, Kabiru Marafa, said these in a statement by its Secretary (Strategic Coordination), Mikail Ibrahim, and obtained by journalists in Abuja titled, ‘Sympathising with the victims of military airstrike in Maru Local Government.’
The statement read, “The APC Presidential Campaign Coordinator in Zamfara State and Senatorial Candidate for Zamfara Central, Senator Kabiru Garba Marafa, received with shock the news of the collateral damage from military operations leading to deaths and injuries among civilians at the Mutunji community of Maru Local Government in Zamfara State.
“On behalf of himself, his family and teaming supporters, Senator Marafa sympathises with the families of the victims, the government and the Governor of Zamfara State, the Local Govt Chairman and his council, Dansadau and Maru Emirate Councils and the entire people of Zamfara State over the unfortunate the incident.
“While acknowledging the selfless and patriotic effort of the armed forces in flushing the bandits out of Zamfara State, Senator Marafa appealed for greater operational diligence and caution to avoid mishaps with such devastating consequences to communities.
“He also calls for an investigation by military authorities of the particular incident at Mutunji to ensure that there was no negligence of any sort and to learn from its lessons and guide future expeditions.
“Finally, Senator Marafa calls on relevant state and Federal Government agencies to provide immediate emergency support to the victims of the airstrike and prays for the repose of the souls of the deceased victims as well as the quick recovery of those injured.”

The Presidential Campaign Council of the All Progressives Congress in Zamfara State, on Wednesday, demanded that the military should investigate the airstrike which led to deaths and injuries among civilians at Mutunji community in Maru Local Government.
