Napoli will not move for Super Eagles defender, Bright Osayi-Samuel, when the January transfer window reopens, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
Osayi-Samuel recently made his debut for Nigeria against Portugal where he was outstanding.
The Partenopei were in search of a new right back as a backup to Giovanni Di Lorenzo and had penciled the Nigerian defender as a possible target following his impressive form for the Yellow Canaries.
The former Queens Park Rangers star has three years left on his current deal with Fenerbahce.
But according to Corriere Dello Sport, Napoli have agreed to a deal with Sampdoria for their Polish right back Bartosz Bereszyński thus ending Osayi-Samuel’s dreams of joining his compatriot Victor Osimhen in Naples.
“Napoli have agreed to a deal with Sampdoria for Polish full-back Bartosz Bereszyński and will not move for Osayi-Samuel,” the report reads.
“Bereszyński, 30, will join Luciano Spalletti’s side initially on a six-month loan deal before inking a permanent contract next summer.”
Osayi-Samuel’s hopes of playing for one of Europe’s biggest clubs still remains alive as recent reports suggest that Spanish giants Atletico Madrid are also interested in the 24-year-old.
