The Nigerian Army is planning to recall no fewer than 129 soldiers dismissed from the service.
It was gathered that the dismissed soldiers had submitted letters to the authorities for their reinstatement.
In a memo with reference number, AHQ DOAA/ G1/300/112, dated October 21, 2022, the various unit and formation heads of the dismissed soldiers were directed to provide documents and give remarks on the ex-soldiers.
The memo was titled, ‘Forwarding of letter of requests for reinstatement into the Nigerian Army, 91NA/32/4873 SSGT Marcus Suleiman and 128 others’ and signed by Lt Col N. H. Longroe on behalf of the Chief of Army Staff.
The memo read in part, “Consequently, I am directed to respectfully request you forward comments and all relevant documents relating to the ex-soldiers dismissal as it affects your units to this headquarters NLT 161800A Nov 22 for further action. Please treat and acknowledge.”
Some of the former soldiers seeking reinstatement are SSGT Marcus Suleiman, with service number, 91NA/32/4873; Mohammed Balarabe, 95NA /40/4229; Samuel Bassey, 97NA/44/13739; Michael Sugh, 93NA/35/ 2225; Adebowale Abiodun, 99NA/48/1058; Yakubu Maidawa, 96NA/41/4100; Ali Ahmodu, 01NA/50/1186; and Ukadike Irabor, 98NA 46 2852, among others.
Calls to the Director of Army Public Relations, Brig Gen Onyema Nwachwuku, rang out. He had also yet to respond to a message sent to his mobile phone on the matter as of the time of filing this report.
