Ahead of Monday’s trip to Arouca for the Portuguese Primeira Liga clash, Porto have been handed a major boost as Nigeria international Zaidu Sanusi resumes full training and could be in action, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
According to manager Sergio Conceicao during a morning training session at Olival, Sanusi is back and is doing conditioning training.
Sanusi has been out of action since he injured his left abductor in a Champions League game against Spanish club, Atletico Madrid, a game Porto won 2-1.
The 25-year-old was replaced by Brazilian defender Wendell after he went off injured in the 53rd minute.
The defender has since been out of action, missing seven games for Porto so far, two of which were league games, and five cup games.
With action set to resume after the World Cup break, the Portuguese champions will be delighted with the return of the Nigerian, who took part in the training session on Friday and Saturday.
The game against Arouca may have come too soon for the left-back but manager Conceicao will be counting on him to turn out for the club when they face Casa Pia on January 7, 2023.
Porto are currently second in the league and the return of Sanusi will surely delight the manager in their bid to close the gap between them and current league leaders Benfica.
