As inflation rises, Pastor Bolaji Idowu of Harvesters International Christian Centre (HICC) has fed not less than 2000 families in Lagos.
The project executed under the Harvesters Lekki Ministry team with the support of the Harvesters Africa Empowerment Foundation(HAEF), was done in commemoration of this year’s Christmas celebration.
2000 families in the Jakande and Oniru axis of Lagos received food items and 100 people were beneficiaries of cash worth over N7.8 million.
Items donated include rice, cooking oil and numerous condiments needed to prepare Christmas meals. The team also gave out the sum of N5000 each to N100 persons.
According to the Lead pastor of the Church, Bolaji Idowu, the project is in line with the ministry’s commitment to alleviating poverty and empowering less privileged people in society. Bolaji during the outreach advised religious organizations and well-to-do members of society to remember the needy not only on special occasions but always.
He said: “You can also be of help to people in your environment in your own little way. That’s the message we are trying to send out. We believe there’s hope for Nigeria and Africa at large,” he said.
He, however, stressed that beyond what the church is expected to do in assisting less privileged, there should be a formidable support system in the society capable of rendering necessary help to them so that they could cope favorably with emotional and economical challenges that they might have to face.
On his part, Associate pastor of the church, Dayo Ogunrombi promised that the church will continue to impact more lives and that the church would do more in the area of skill development and acquisition through the Harvesters Skill Acquisition Programme (HSAP).
