The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has ordered an investigation into the Christmas Day murder of an Abuja-based man, Usman Hassan, who was stabbed to death early Sunday morning during a routine jog.
Our correspondent gathered that Usman, a father of four, who was found in a pool of blood, was killed a few metres away from his Ochacho estate residence in the Idu-Karmo district of the FCT.
Reacting to the incident in a statement Tuesday night, the FCT police spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, said, “The command is aware of the case of one Usman Hassan, who was reported to have left home around 7 am on December 25, 2022, and never returned.
“He was later discovered around 2 pm by a search party organised by the Karmo Divisional Police Headquarters upon the receipt of the information, with visible bodily injuries.
“He was confirmed dead by experts on the crime scene and the police investigation team was present to remove the corpse and take necessary preliminary investigative actions.
“The Commissioner of Police, Sadiq Abubakar, has directed the division of jurisdiction and all other investigative and intelligence assets of the command to exert their full weight on the case to unravel the situation that surrounds his death and bring perpetrators to book.”
Our correspondent gathered that Hassan was on Monday buried in Barkin Ladi town, Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The deceased, until his death, was a staff member of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission and had just bagged a Master’s degree in Energy Oil and Gas Economics from the University of Dundee, United Kingdom.
