Its first edition was held on the 19th December 2022 and the aim of this programme was to aid a food enthusiast or budding food entrepreneur to kick-start their own neighborhood eatery. The winning NaijaFlavour amongst the 10 finalists was offered a Grand Prize of 2 million naira while the programme also recognized the Most Innovative Recipe and Best Presentation with 500,000 naira and 200,000 naira respectively.

This project was curated by The Tang Impact, a food consulting company focused on improving the food scene in Nigeria and run by Nigerian Food Critic, UjuAmaeshi and Nigerian Food Blogger &Traveller, UgonnaEjiogu.
The competition had notable personalities in the Nigerian food industry as judges, influencers and stakeholders. There were also numerous sponsors like PepsiCo, Gradani (a gluten free fufu brand), Come On Naija and CAPA. The highlight of the day was the Nigerian themed competitive meals prepared by the 10 contestants in each round of the competition, the African decor at the location, cultural dancers performing, palm wine served in calabash, and spoken word poetry performance.
