Super Eagles striker, Simy Nwankwo, is desperate to prove his worth at his Serie B team, Benevento despite dropping down in the pecking order, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
Nwankwo has failed to score in the nine appearances he has made so far this season fueling speculation of his future at the club but his agent Domenico Beraldi reveals that the Nigerian striker is keen to remain at the club.
“Nwankwo’s exit is not even an option, he is focused on his season in Benevento, where he is confident of obtaining good results with his teammates and the coach, with whom he gets on very well,” Beraldi told Pianeta.
“He wants to stay to prove his worth, hoping he has put behind him some minor muscle injuries which have held him back a bit so far. At the end of the season, as always, we will evaluate the best for him.”
Nwankwo burst into the limelight three seasons ago, when he scored 20 goals in 38 games for Crotone in the Serie A. However, he has been unable to replicate such performance since then.
Benevento currently sit 14th in Serie B and are in danger of falling into the relegation zone. Nwankwo would look to hit his stride soon and help push his side higher up the table with his goals.
