A gang of suspected robbers operating in a tricycle (Keke) between Effurun Roundabout and PTI Express in Delta State has been intercepted by an angry mob following the cry of a female passenger who was dispossessed of her mobile phones and other valuables.
In the ensuing pandemonium, two of the suspected tricycle robbers escaped and took to their heels while one was caught by the irate mob that beat him to stupor.
Sunday PUNCH gathered that the middle-aged woman had joined the tricycle painted in commercial colour from Airport road en route PTI junction when she was attacked midway by the three suspected robbers, and forcefully dispossessed of her mobile phones, a bag containing a sum of N5,000 and some other vital documents.
Consequently, the woman raised an alarm when the suspected Keke robbers made spirited moves to push her out of the moving tricycle.
Her cry drew the attention of passersby and other motorists and immediately, some commercial tricycle and bus drivers pursued the suspected robbers and eventually caught up with them.
The Good Samaritans intercepted the suspects’ tricycle on sighting the wailing victim still crying for help.
In the melee, two of the suspected robbers escaped while one was caught by an irate mob that beat him almost to death before the intervention of security operatives from the Nigeria Police.
While narrating her ordeal, the victim said she entered the commercial tricycle from Airport road to PTI junction before she was attacked and robbed by the three suspected robbers of her mobile phones, bag containing a sum of N5,000 and some documents.
