In a press statement, signed by the Director of Publicity, NNPP Campaign Council, Hisham Habib, adjudged his principal as the most competent candidate for the race, following the experiences he garnered, over the years, as the commissioner of works during Rabiu Kwankwaso’s administration as governor.
According to Yusuf, “My pedigree and experience is the edge I have, which is far above other contestants for the exalted position of the governorship seat. I also contributed immensely, as the commissioner of works toward the provision of infrastructural development in the state, which is the primary responsibility of the Ministry of Works.
“Over 80 per cent of the network of roads and complex overhead flyovers constructed in Kano were initiated and executed by Kwankwaso’s administration. In my capacity, both as an engineer and workers commissioner, I supervised the construction of the roads and overhead bridges to ensure that they complied, with international standard and specification, both in quality and standard, using my expertise as a professional engineer.”
The statement also said that the 70-page blueprint of the governorship candidate will be deployed to further develop and transform Kano State “to another level of economic growth and development, as never witnessed in the history of the state.”
“The New Nigeria Peoples Party leadership picked Abba, based on his experience and track record, as commissioner of works in the tenure of Dr. Rabiu Kwankwaso, who transformed Kano tremendously to an economic industrialised state.
“The good people of Kano have since been yearning for change, as the APC-led government has wasted eight years, characterised with mismanagement, embezzlement and nepotism, without nothing to pinpoint as its achievement.
“Similarly, pensioners have been shortchanged while civil servants have turned to beggars, while the education sector is already crippled, following the sale of school premises to traders,” the statement added.
Furthermore, the statement, tasked voters to ignore all forms of intimidating remarks by the APC in the state as the governorship election draws nearer, assuring citizens that the NNPP is a lot more prepared and poised to capture the governorship seat of the state.
The Ganduje-led administration, according to the statement had “disappointed the majority of Kano people, including the youth and retirees, while the candidate of the party for the governorship race, lacks the capacity to add value to governance, as he is a continuation of the wobbling Ganduje-led administration.”
