A yet-to-be-identified motorcyclist has been trapped beneath a 33,000-litre petrol tanker which fell on its side on the Apapa-Oshodi Expressway, in the Amuwo Odofin area of Lagos State.
The Director, Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Margaret Adeseye, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday.
Adeseye noted that the tanker lost control while in motion, causing it to fall and spill its contents.
She said, “The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service is currently salvaging a 33,000-litre tanker conveying PMS outbound Mile 2 which accidentally lost control while in motion and fell on its side, thereby spilling its contents at Alaba Express Bus Stop, Apapa-Oshodi Expressway, Amuwo Odofin, Lagos.
“The incident is being mitigated by the Ajegunle fire crew of the agency, which has it under control with no palpable cause for alarm. An adult male motorcyclist is, however, trapped beneath the tanker as efforts are ongoing to recover him.”
