Obi said this on Wednesday, when his presidential campaign council arrived Pantami stadium in Gombe State, to solicit for votes, noting that the solution was in Labour Party.
Our correspondent reports that Obi earlier met with Gombe women at the International Hotel Conference hall where he sought for their support, stressing that they should use their Permanent Voter Cards to bring the right change to the country.
The Labour Party candidate told participants that as mothers of the nation, they had a vital role to play by not only participating in politics but also directing their children who were the youths to vote wisely in the 2023 election.
The Labour Party presidential candidate added, “We are the structure. You are the structure. Their structure is that of stealing and corruption but we will wipe it away.”
According to him, electorates in the past had voted for political parties with symbols of inanimate objects, adding that it was time for Nigerians to vote for human beings.
Obi noted that a new Nigeria was possible when someone with good character is voted into power, Obi said, “The 2023 election is an election that will start a new Nigeria that her citizens will begin to trust and have confidence in,” adding that the job of building a new country like Nigeria requires both physical and mental energy.
He added, “We want to build a new Nigeria, you have voted for umbrella, it leaked, and you were suffering. You voted for broom, it swept you into poverty. Now is the time to vote for human beings to bring a new Nigeria. It’s time to vote for mama, papa and pikin (children).”
While urging for support for the party, Obi said he would bring government closer to the electorates.
“Go to every corner of Gombe and tell the people that we are the people that you are seeing. We want to bring government closer to the people that is why we are travelling from North to South to reach people directly,” Obi added.
