Africa’s fastest-growing direct-selling company, Healthgarde International, has officially unveiled Rugby World Cup champion, Tendai ‘The Beast’ Mtawarira, as its first brand partner and envoy. The former Springboks rugby player, entrepreneur, and philanthropist has joined forces with Healthgarde as two African giants on a common cause to empower and promote health through wealth creation.
This partnership adds to the ever-expanding business and philanthropic portfolio of Mtawarira, who retired from rugby after the 2019 World Cup. Mtawarira’s post-rugby career is managed by Roc Nation Sports International, which facilitated the partnership.
Healthgarde is black-owned and the first major African women-owned direct-selling company in the world. It has over 50,000 active independent consultants in less than three years; reaching and changing many lives. The business has footprints in seven African countries and a presence in the United States.
Healthgarde believes in bringing Africans out of poverty and impacting families positively for generations to come by creating a business environment that recognizes and celebrates everyday people who would ordinarily not receive any sort of recognition; and uplifting them to become family and community anchors.
Speaking to the press in Lagos while preparing for Healthgarde’s 2023 Convention, where ‘The Beast’ would make his first appearance as brand envoy, the COO, Lovelyn Bassey, said there is great synergy between the brand values of the company and those of health and wellness that Mtawarira lives by.
“We have seen how the right brand partnerships are helping brands grow, and ‘The Beast’ is the perfect fit for our brand. As an African, his stardom projects well to Nigerians as well as South Africans. On one hand, Healthgarde provides entrepreneurship, business growth opportunities and the Healthgarde Foundation for women and children.
“On the other hand, ‘The Beast’ also runs a foundation that seeks to empower and equip youths through sports, education and skills development. Bringing our brands together is providing opportunities and forging a better future for everyone. This partnership is the first of many,” Bassey explained.
‘The Beast’ who was named in the Forbes Africa 2021 list of 100 most influential Africans, arrived in Nigeria, Wednesday. He said this is a proud moment to announce his partnership with Healthgarde. “We hope to instill a hustler’s spirit that seeks to help people believe in themselves and know that anything is achievable no matter where you come from.” Mtawarira concluded.
