The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), and Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo have expressed their condolences to Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State over the loss of his son.
The deceased, who got married in June, last year, to his first wife, Hajiya Silifat Sule, was Governor Sule’s eldest son.
Hassan aged 36, died on Thursday night after a brief illness.
Buhari’s condolence message is contained in a statement signed by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, titled ‘President Buhari condoles with Gov. Sule of Nasarawa State over losses.’
In his message Buhari said, “My deepest and heartfelt condolences to the Governor and his family on the tragic death of his worthy son, Hassan.”
He also condoled with the government and people of the State following the recent tragedy involving herdsmen.
Meanwhile, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, has commiserated with Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State, over the death of his 36-year-old son, Hassan who died yesterday.
Prof. Osinbajo expressed his condolence when he visited Governor Sule in Gudi town, Nasarawa State.
“This is a very tragic and sad day indeed for me, as I am sure it is for all of you here in Nasarawa. I want to say to my brother, the governor, and to members of the family as well as your Royal Highness and all those who are here to condole with him, that we pray the Almighty God will comfort him and members of the family.
“We pray that God who gives and takes will have mercy on him, the family and on all of us,” the VP noted.
Governor Sule, however, described the passing away of his first son, Hassan, as a test from God.
The governor stated this on Friday while receiving condolences at the palace of his father, the Sarkin Gudi, HRH Alhaji Sule Bawa, in Akwanga LGA.
He said from the experiences he had gathered from the Holy Qu’ran, God promised to test the faith of every believer, saying “this is my time to be tested.”
He said, “I see this as a test from God. I was the person consoling somebody that lost his nine children and 70 cows yesterday (Thursday), and today God decided to test me, to see whether I was sincere in consoling that bereaved father.”
He described his late son as a calm, disciplined and obedient young man, who treated his siblings equally and with mutual respect.
Meanwhile, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu, has condoled with the government and people of Nasarawa State over the recent bomb explosion in the state which claimed the lives of 30 persons.
He also condoled with Governor Abdullahi Sule over the death of his eldest son, Hassan Sule.
A statement by the Tinubu Media Office and signed by Mr. Abdulaziz Abdulaziz on Friday, quoted the APC candidate as saying, “While still mourning the unfortunate deaths from the pathetic explosion, we woke up to yet another tragedy.
