The prompt intervention of the police follows a distress call to the Kabusa Police Division about an armed robbery incident in the ECWA 2 community of Kabusa Village.
According to the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, Josephine Adeh, some of the exhibits recovered from the scene included a Baretta pistol, one round of 9mm live ammunition, two axes, one mobile phone, and a silver whistle.
Adeh said, “On receipt of the report, the policemen swiftly mobilised to the scene in collaboration with the locals, and the hoodlums, on sighting the police team, opened fire on them, and a gun duel ensued.
“However, the superior gunfire of the police led to one of the armed robbers being neutralised, while others scrambled with bullet wounds, fleeing the area. Efforts are being made to arrest the fleeing cohorts.”
The police further noted that two residents injured by the robbers were taken to the hospital upon arrival at the area, where they were treated and discharged, and the robber that neutralised was confirmed dead by a medical doctor on duty.
The police also urged residents to maintain vigilance and report suspicious activities to the police through the following emergency numbers 08032003913, 08061581938, 07057337653, and 08028940883, while the Public Complaint Bureau desk could be reached via 0902 222 2352.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Sadiq Abubakar, has applauded residents for their prompt notification and support to the police. He assured that, while efforts are intensified to prevent any threat to public safety, incidents of crimes as such would be appropriately confronted and promptly nipped in the bud.
