The Acting Head of Department, Voter Education and Publicity INEC in the state, Bukola Ojeme, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday in Asaba, the state capital.
He said the exercise was scheduled to hold on Saturday, February 4, in 12 selected polling units, across three Senatorial Districts and six Local Government Areas in the state.
Ojeme said, “The Independent National Electoral Commission, Delta State is scheduled to conduct mock accreditation with the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System in furtherance of the technical evaluation of the device, as part of preparations for the 2023 General Election.
“Recall that the Commission successfully carried out the first technical evaluation of about 6,000 pieces of BVAS delivered to the Commission in Delta State, to ascertain the viability of both hard and software election materials.
“The mock accreditation exercise, which will hold in 12 selected Polling Units, across three Senatorial Districts and six LGAs, is therefore a step further in ascertaining its functionality on the field.
“The exercise will commence at 8:00am and close at 2:00pm and only registered voters, with the Permanent Voter cards ( PVCs) in the respective Polling Units are eligible to participate in the mock accreditation.
“The Commission appeals to Deltans, particularly participating registered voters to abide by instructions of officials deployed for the exercise for a successful outcome.”
The local governments selected according to Ojeme includes Okpe, Ughelli North, Ika North East, Oshimili North, Isoko North and Warri South.
