The ex-President’s Special Assistant on Media, Kehinde Akinyemi, disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists in Abeokuta on Monday.
Akinyemi said the commendation was made at the First Stakeholders’ meeting held at the Sheraton Hotel Ikeja at the weekend.
According to the statement, the council’s Deputy President and Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, delivered the message while giving a report of a meeting he had with the President recently in Abuja.
The statement read, “According to El-Rufai, the President was excited about the council. He said with such council in Africa, the future will be brighter to work together.
“Mr President urged the former President to use his energy and network to extend similar formations in countries like, Egypt, Ethiopia and South Africa, the governor quoted President Buhari as having said.
“At the meeting, which had in attendance, President Obasanjo, as the Council Patron, the President of the Council and the immediate past Director General of the International Institute for Tropical Agriculture , Dr. Nteranya Sanginga, the governor of Anambra State, Prof. Charles Soludo, and top government officials from DRC among other captains of industry, resolved to further move the council to greater heights.”
The council also decided that the next meeting will be held in Kinshasa after the Nigerian general elections between April 26 and 29, 2023.
