The Crawford University, Igbesa, Ogun State, has advised its matriculating students to ensure their research works proffer solutions to societal problems.
Speaking specifically to the postgraduate students during the matriculation of over 565 fresh undergraduate and postgraduate students, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Reuben Kolo, said, “Therefore, I urge you to tailor your research work to proffer solutions to societal problems; your research should lead to an original contribution to knowledge. Originality is the hallmark of scientific research; as pointed out by the physics Nobel laureate Ernst Lawrence that “creative thinking demands seeing things not seen previously, or in ways not previously imagined” let your research provide novel solutions to challenges of humanity.”
Kolo also said a good student should be law abiding and be of good behavior and conduct throughout their stay in the school.
He added that the vision behind the establishment of the University was to be a centre of excellence, producing graduates with a balanced education.
“This University will not condone indiscipline, bullying, fighting, laziness or any form of social vices or immoralities on the part of any student. Hardworking is the hallmark of good success. Good students should be law-abiding and must be up and doing. They also do not involve themselves in any act of lawlessness. The University values its stamp and logo, which are to be imprinted on your certificates after the end of your programmes. As a result, the University would be delighted to award its certificates to deserving students.
“Your new status as a student of Crawford University imposes on you greater responsibilities than ever before. You are therefore required to dress decently in line with the University Dress Code at all times, and comport yourself both within and outside the university.”
