The delay, the CSO claimed, may lead to the institution being deregistered.
The State Government in a letter signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Teslim Igbalaye, and addressed to the Governing Council of the institution, had directed that all activities regarding it should be on hold, as the governor, Adeleke had instituted an ad hoc committee to review issues concerning the institution.
But while addressing a press conference in Osogbo, the Executive Director of the group, Prof. Wasiu Oyedokun-Alli, said the review embarked upon could be unnecessary and feared further delay may lead to the institution being deregistered.
Oyedokun-Alli said, “in the committee that midwife establishment of Ilesa University, was more than 5 former Vice Chancellors. What are we reviewing in that and who are those reviewing it?
“What we are doing is we are shooting ourselves in the leg because the University ought to have admitted the first set of students by last month or else the license could be revoked.
“The university has already been licensed by NUC, JAMB has already put it in its portal. What else are we reviewing? The Ijesha community is ready to support the school regarding funding, why are we introducing politics to it by putting it on hold?”
He, however, lauded Adeleke’s approval of the payment of salary arrears owed to civil servants by the past administration in the state, commending him for the willingness he had displayed in righting the wrongs of the past.
