Banwo said this during the 14th Founder’s Day Anniversary of the organisation held on Wednesday at the Muson Centre in Lagos.
The event was graced by the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu; Governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu, SAN; and Senatorial Oluremi Tinubu.
The BSN President said, “Men and brethren, as we reflect on the noble ideas and values of the founding fathers of this great society, I appeal to all leaders at all the governance levels to rule this great maroon with fear of God. There’s too much suffering in the land today. We are already at the throes of the nation plummeting at jet speed. Tension is rising with the compounded problem of liquidity, squeeze and scarcity of new notes.
“This, when considered, alongside the lingering scarcity of petroleum products and energy crisis, is already creating a dire situation whereby the masses can be pushed to the wall. Our leaders need to wake up now.”
On his part, the Chairman of the occasion and National Secretary of Foursquare Gospel Church, Pastor Yemi Oyinloye, said without an organisation like the BSN spreading the word of God, Nigeria and the world at large would have been in darkness.
The guest speaker, Monday Ubani, urged Nigerians to shun tribalism when they go out to cast their votes to elect their next leaders. According to him, the sufferings experienced at the moment know no tribe.
During the event, awards were given to the General Superintendent of Acts of the Apostles International Church, Dr Z.B Adeboriota; Managing Director, Cowry Asset Management Limited, Johnson Chukwu; Executive Director, SIDMACH Technologies, Mike Olajide, and Chartered Accountant Adedolapo Fayomi.
