The state Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Mahid Abubakar, said his men in collaboration with local vigilantes/hunters had tracked down a three-man gang of suspected kidnappers after credible intelligence that they were sighted at the Lawanti axis of Akko Local Government Area of the state.
Abubakar disclosed that the rescue team recovered an AK-47, a magazine with five live bullets, and a Honda Bajaj motorcycle
He said, “On receipt of the information, the officer in charge of the unit in collaboration with the hunters and vigilante groups mobilised to the scene and engaged the kidnappers in a gun duel.
“Due to the firepower of the Police, one of the suspects was neutralised while others took to their heels with bullet injuries; an AK-47 rifle, a magazine with five live bullets, and a Honda Bajaj Motorcycle were recovered as exhibits.”
According to the police spokesman, the commissioner of Police, Oqua Etim, equally appreciates and enjoins the peace-loving citizens in the state to continue to give credible information to the command which will lead to the arrest and apprehension of criminal elements.
