Nigeria international Moses Simon is racing against time to be fit and available for Nantes’ Europa League clash against Italian giants Juventus on Thursday due to a thigh injury, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
Simon has not featured for the French outfits since he picked up a thigh injury in the second half of the Canaries’ 2-0 defeat at home to Marseille on the first of February.
The Super Eagles winger has since missed Nantes’ subsequent victory away to Ajaccio in Ligue 1 and their penalty shootout wins over Angers in the Coupe de France and was also unavailable during their league game against visiting Lorient on Sunday.
However, according to French publication, L’Equipe, manager Antoine Kombouaré could have the 27-year-old for selection for the crucial first leg of their Europa League knockout round encounter with Juventus at the Allianz Stadium in Turin on Thursday.
“Apart from Merlin, absent at least until the end of April. Pallois resumed collective training on Thursday, Moses Simon (thigh) could also return for Turin,” the website wrote.
While he may have dropped off in the last few weeks, Simon remains one of Nantes’ most influential attacking players with five goals and two assists in 19 Ligue 1 games this term.
