The reaction is coming in the wake of Sowore’s claim that the leaders of the party were practically begging the Chairman of Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof Mahmood Yakubu, to assist them with a comprehensive list of the LP agents submitted so far.
The AAC candidate, who made the claim in a tweet via his official Twitter handle, noted that even the INEC chairman was shocked by the demand.
Sowore tweeted, “Labour Party has practically become an Airbnb for internally displaced politicians. Today at a meeting with INEC and political parties, their leaders were begging INEC to help them with their polling unit agents list. INEC Chair, Mahmood Yakubu, was shocked!”
Reacting to the allegation, the spokesman for the Obi-Datti Presidential Campaign Council, Yunusa Tanko, was infuriated.
In a phone chat with The PUNCH, Tanko stated that it would be unfair for someone like Sowore to deliberately attempt to mislead the public with his tweet.
While stating that it was almost impossible for any party to claim its list of polling unit agents is 100 per cent complete, the LP campaign image maker disclosed that Sowore’s action at belittling their campaign was a cheap blackmail.
“Sowore doesn’t deserve to be given an answer on this particular matter. Is that his problem? This is not his political party. Let’s ignore him, please. When the election commences, he will then know whether we have polling unit agents or not.
“But I can authoritatively tell you that I know people who are already working on the INEC list of agents and they have toiled tirelessly. At least, over 90 per cent of that particular list has already been submitted.
“Is it wrong for us to ask INEC officially for what they have? No single political party has done 100 per cent including his own that he is talking about. Does he have polling agents anywhere? Let him shows us.
“Sowore is just trying to come up with cheap blackmail. Please forget about him. He is just looking for political relevance,” he said.
