A Magistrate’s Court sitting in Abeokuta, Ogun State, on Wednesday, remanded the suspects, Lekan Adekanbi, Waheed Adeniji, and Odetola Ahmed, for killing a couple, Kehinde and Bukola Fatinoye, and their son, Oreoluwa, in the state.
The court also remanded the mother and fiancée of the driver of the couple, Adenike Adekanbi and Fadairo Temitope, as well as two other suspects who bought the stolen car of the slain couple, Owolaja Anuoluwapo, and Usman Azeez.
The Chief Magistrate, Esther Idowu, gave the order for the remand of the suspects after the applicant’s counsel, Oluwatosin Jackson, moved an application for them to be remanded.
The suspects were arrested and paraded by the police command in the state in connection with the killing of the couple and their son on New Year’s day.
The police, thereafter, arraigned the suspects to court following the completion of the investigation.
According to Jackson, the application is backed up by a 14 paragraphs affidavit, praying the court for 60 days to remand the murder suspects before arraignment.
The Magistrate, therefore, ordered the remand of the male murder suspects at the Oba Correctional Centre, while the female suspects were remanded at the Ibara Correctional Centre for 60 days.
According to the magistrate, the remand for 60 days in the first instance was pending legal advice from the Department of Public Prosecution.
The magistrate adjourned the case till April 17, 2023, for mention.
