Former Kano CP, Mamman Dauda, who had been in charge of the state police command, was redeployed to Plateau State, while Yakubu is now in charge of the Kano Police Command, The PUNCH reports.

The Kano State Command PPRO, Abdullahi Haruna, confirmed the development in a telephone interview with our correspondent on Tuesday night.
“The information is correct; we now have a new CP in Kano. But Kano was not the only state where this happened,” Haruna said.
In a follow-up statement obtained by our correspondent, the PPRO said, “The Kano State Police Command wishes to inform the good people of Kano State that CP Muhammad Yakubu assumed duty as the Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command today, while CP Mamman Dauda has been posted to Plateau State Police Command for the 2023 general elections.

Similarly, CP Ita Uko-Udom is posted to Kano Central Senatorial District, DCP Adamu Ngoji and DCP Abdulkadir El-Jamal are posted to Kano South Senatorial District and DCP Abaniwonda Olufemi is posted to Kano North Senatorial District for the 2023 general election.
“The Command appreciates the good people of Kano State for their prayers, support, encouragement and cooperation. We, therefore, solicit the cooperation of all as we are committed to ensuring a free, fair, credible, transparent and successful 2023 general election. Thank you and God bless.”
The PUNCH reports that the redeployment of the former Kano CP, Mamman Dauda to Plateau is coming just few days after the New Nigeria People’s Party alleged that the CP has been in cahoots with the state government to frustrate the party in the election period.
The party had appealed to the IG to redeploy the CP out of the state.
However, the ruling All Progressives Congress had said they had also raised similar concerns, adding that the CP was not going tough on criminal elements among the NNPP supporters.
