Ammani, who gave the order on Wednesday, during last minute security review and strategisation meeting with the management team and commanders of tactical/ operational teams of the command at the police headquarters, warned that lapses in any form would not be tolerated.
A statement by the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, said that the meeting was aimed at putting finishing touches to the strategies being emplaced for the maintenance of law and order during the period of the Presidential and National Assembly Elections.
Ndukwe said that the commissioner, had while addressing officers at the meeting, charged them to ensure that all the command’s human, operational and intelligence assets at their disposal were maximally deployed towards the provision of adequate security for the electorate and other authorized participants in the elections.
He said that the commissioner also ordered the officers to ensure that “the election centres and flashpoints are adequately policed to forestall untoward occurrences, warning that lapses of any kind will not be tolerated.”
The CP he said had maintained that the Police would not leave any stone unturned in ensuring that the Elections are conducted as expected, under an atmosphere of peace, security and safety of the citizenry.
He, therefore, urged all and sundry in the State to remain vigilant, law-abiding and supportive.
