Both Akpabi and Enoidem are contesting to represent the Akwa Ibom North-West district at the Red Chamber of the National Assembly during Saturday’s election.
Etiebet, who is also on the Board of Trustees of the APC in the state, had endorsed the PDP candidate and threatened to ensure that he (Akpabio), loses the 2023 senatorial seat to Enoidem.
Speaking while addressing a congregation of Afe Annang, a socio-political organisation of the Annang people in Abak LGA, Akpabio challenged Etiebet to show what he achieved for the people when he was the minister of petroleum.
Akpabio also berated Enoidem for attacking him, claiming that he (Akpabio) created the platform for Enoidem to become politically relevant today.
He said, “Even his community I gave them the water, the town hall he called for the meeting, I built it and you say that you are a leader, you couldn’t do anything for your people. Even the university, Ritman University I gave him the contract.
“You should begin to advise some of your elders> I don’t need your endorsement, I need the endorsement of the people.
“Ingratitude is a sin before God and for someone to open his mouth to say that I didn’t work for you but you stepped out from the air-conditioned office that Godswill Akpabio gave you, you stepped out from the air-conditioned house that Godswill Akpabio assisted you to build, you stepped out from air-conditioned car Godswill Akpabio assisted you to buy, yet you open your mouth to say, I only worked for the government of Akwa Ibom and not Godswill Akpabio.
“You resorted to blackmail, attack, the bible says whoever pay evil for good, evil shall never depart from him.
“You were the Minister of petroleum, tell me one local government you empowered or established NNPC, you did nothing and you call yourself a leader.”
