The governor made the statement on Saturday after casting his vote at his polling unit at Ward 3, Polling Unit 002, Ita Osanyin, Iperu, in the Ikenne Local Government Area of the state.
Abiodun, who said he was yet to confirm the reason INEC refused to disburse enough access cards to party agents, noted that he had been hearing several complaints from party agents of the All Progressives Congress monitoring the election at various polling units in the state.
He said, “I just exercised my franchise in full public glare. From all that I have been told so far, I believe the exercise appears to be going well enough. There were a few hitches early this morning and they centred on agents’ identification tags.
“I am told that INEC did not provide enough cards for agents to identify themselves as they presented themselves at various polling units. I am yet to confirm what caused that; I am not sure whether this applies to all parties, but our party agents have complained that they were short of quite a few agents’ cards.
“But I believe that some arrangements have been worked and voting has started. The voters’ turnout is impressive; everything seems to be going well. One hopes that what we have seen here at my polling unit and a few other polling units that I have seen this morning will be indicative of what we will obtain across the length and breadth of our 5042 polling units in the state.”
