The Peoples Democratic Party and the All Progressives Congress have disagreed over a call for the redeployment of the Ogun State Director of the Department of State Services, Femi Aaron.
The PDP had called for the removal of Aaron over his alleged partiality in the aftermath of a riot against the naira scarcity in the Sagamu area of the state.
Branches of some commercial banks and a local government secretariat were destroyed during the riot.
The deputy governorship candidate of the PDP, Adekunle Akinlade, at a press briefing in Abeokuta, alleged that Governor Dapo Abiodun had been harassing candidates of the party with the DSS over the mayhem.
Akinlade said he did not believe in the neutrality of the DSS boss, alleging that the DSS broke into the house of five candidates and their supporters without warrants.
He claimed that instead of shifting blame, it was the governor that incited the public against the banks.
However, the state Publicity Secretary of the APC, Tunde Oladunjoye, said the innocent would not be afraid.
Oladunjoye said, “The DSS is a professional and independent outfit conducting investigations. No sinner will go unpunished once criminality has been established. It is not our style to dictate to DSS.”
