Orogbu was declared the winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission returning officer of the Awka North/South, at the local government headquarters in Amawbia, on Monday.
Orogbu pulled 34, 741 votes to defeat her closest rival, Obi Nwankwo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, who pulled 24, 814 and Emeka Igwe of the Peoples Democratic Party who got 12, 850 votes.
Other parties with their votes were Young Progressive Party, 2,042; All Progressives Congress, 850: Action Alliance, 625.
Speaking to journalists after being announced the winner, Oregbu, who is also a lecturer at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, promised quality representation to his electorate.
She also complained late arrival of electoral materials, which according to her, disenfranchised a lot of people.
“I will give my constituents quality representation.”
Orogbi would be replacing Chinedu Onwuaso of PDP who is currently representing the constituency in the house.
