Everton coach, Sean Dyche, has played down reports Alex Iwobi that he is unhappy at Goodison Park, Saturday PUNCH reports.
Reports in Turkey have suggested that the midfielder is ‘unhappy’ at Goodison Park and Fenerbahce are interested in signing the Nigerian before the close of the Turkish transfer window on Sunday on an initial loan deal until the end of the season.
Jorge Jesus who is an admirer of Iwobi’s versatile style of play believes his arrival could boost his team’s attack and wants the club to sanction the deal.
“Fenerbahce has stepped in for Iwobi, who plays in Everton, one of the Premier League teams,” a report from A Spor reads.
However, Dyche, speaking at his pre-match press conference ahead of Sunday’s trip to Nottingham Forest on Friday, insists that Iwobi doesn’t look unhappy from what he’s seen at Finch Farm.
“Well I’ve seen him today and he seems to be quite happy today (Friday).
“I can only go off what my eyes are telling me and what my feel it telling me. I think it’s unlikely, I’d suggest.”
Iwobi has been a key player for the Toffees this season, having scored one goal in 29 appearances. Since Dyche’s arrival as manager, the Nigeria international has started every game and former boss Frank Lampard previously admitted there had been discussions over a new contract for Iwobi.
The former Arsenal man has just 18 months left on his current deal and Everton fans will be pleased to see their player committing to a new contract.
Iwobi’s new deal will be a ‘three-and-a-half-year agreement’ extending his stay in Merseyside until 2026.
According to reports, the midfielder is set to see his weekly wage increase from £70,000-a-week to £100,000-a-week in the new deal.
