This was sequel to the defection of Muhammad Isa and his followers from the African Democratic Congress.
Isa had contested for the seat of Kaltungo/Shongom Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives in the just concluded presidential and National Assembly election.
Receiving the defectors in Dogon ruwa on Saturday, Governor Muhammadu Yahaya, represented by the Secretary to the Gombe state government, Professor Ibrahim Njodi, urged the people of the area to keep faith with the APC by voting for the present administration in the state.
He stated that, “We have performed credibly well in the provision of social economic and infrastructural development in the last three and half years,” thus enjoining the people to maintain the status quo for consolidation of dividends of democracy.
Speaking earlier, the chief defector, Isa, said his decision to move to the APC along with his supporters, “was based on Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya’s political charisma and administrative dexterity,” he said.
Also, members representing Kaltungo East in the State House of Assembly Yerima Gaule assured Governor Yahaya of a resounding victory.

The All Progressives Congress in Dogon Ruwa District of Kaltungo Local Government Area of Gombe State has received a boost with no fewer than 5,000 people defecting to the party less than one week to the governorship and State House of Assembly election.
