A Magistrate’s Court sitting in Yaba, Lagos State, has ordered the remand of two suspects, Dayo Adeyemi and Sodiq Dada, for alleged murder in the Ajah area of the state.
The Lagos State Police Command arraigned the defendants before Magistrate P.E Nwaka on two counts of murder.
The defendants were accused of using a cutlass to kill one Abiodun Michael around 9 pm on October 18, 2022, at Pwam premises, in the Ajah area of the state.
The police prosecutor, Supol Thomas Nurudeen, told the court that the offences were contrary to and punishable under Section 233 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, Nigeria, 2015.
The charge read in part, “That you, Dayo Adeyemi, Sodiq Dada, and others still at large, on October 18, 2022, around 9 pm at Pwam premises, Ajah, Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did conspire among yourself to commit felony to wit murder, and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 233 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, Nigeria, 2015.”
The defendants’ pleas were not taken.
Nurudeen prayed to the court to remand the defendants in prison custody pending legal advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecution.
Granting the prosecutor’s plea, Nwaka ordered the immediate remand of the defendants in prison custody pending DPP advice.
The case was adjourned till March 22, 2023.
