The Confederation of African Football Cup Group B matchday four encounter between Rivers United of Nigeria and DC Motema Pembe of Democratic Republic of Congo will be played today.
The game will be played at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo, Akwa Ibom, today.
The PUNCH reported Rivers United were awaiting the decision of CAF over the failure of Motema Pembe to honour their match-day four clash in Uyo on Wednesday.
“Officially, CAF TotalEnergies Confederation’s Cup Group B match number 127 Rivers United (Nigeria) vs DCMP (RD Congo) have been put off following the non-arrival of DC Motema Pembe. We await the decision of the Confederation of African Football (CAF),” Rivers United posted at the scheduled kick-off time of the game on Wednesday.
Rivers United are currently second in Group B with six points from three matches and a point behind ASEC Mimosas of Cote d’Ivoire while Motema Pembe are bottom of the standings on two points.
Rivers United, on Thursday, confirmed rescheduling of the maatch on their Twitter handle.
“The CAF TotalEnergies Confederations Cup group B matchday 4 tie between Rivers United and DC Motema Pembe will now be played on Thursday (today) 9 March at 3pm (15:00 HRS),” the club tweeted.
Rivers United had earlier defeated DC Motema Pembe 1-0 on matchday three of the championship.
