The Bauchi State Police Command said that it has recovered 23 illegal firearms including nine AK-47 rifles, seven assorted locally-made arms and 87 rounds of live ammunition of different calibres, from the hands of miscreants.
Also recovered are one Light Assault Rifle, six dane guns and 18 rifle magazines were also recovered.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Ahmed Wakil, a Superintendent of Police, disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists on Wednesday.
He said that Wakil, a Superintendent of Police explained that 22 rounds of live 7×62.51mm NATO ammunition, nine rounds of live 7×62.39mm ammunition, seven 9mm live ammunition, four machetes, one knife and three military camouflages were equally recovered.
According to Wakil, the Police conducted several daring operations and mop-up of firearms across the state, which resulted in significant achievements and recoveries.
“It is worthy to note that the milestone recorded by the command would be attributed to the strategic review of the command’s mode of operations through robust partnership with other sister security agencies and through community partnership, which is known as community policing scheme.
“The Commissioner of Police, Aminu Alhassan, wishes to unequivocally assure the good people of the Bauchi state of adequate security during and after the 2023 Gubernatorial and state assembly election,” he assured.
