This was just as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the state, Uba Sani, condemned the Tuesday night renewed attack on the Zango-Kataf community.
The governorship hopeful said he was deeply pained by the attack and called on security operatives to fish out the perpetrators of the dastardly act for prosecution.
Sani, in a statement made available to our correspondent on Wednesday, noted that the attack was one too many which needed immediate and decisive actions against the murderous elements.
The statement was titled, ‘This is one attack too many: we must break the cycle of impunity.’
It stated, “I am deeply pained by the attack on Zangon-Kataf community and the wanton destruction of innocent lives and property. This is one attack too many. This is not only a condemnable act but one that must propel us to take immediate and decisive action against these murderous elements.
“I call on the security agencies to move into action to fish out the perpetrators of these heinous crimes. Such elements have no place in a decent society like ours.
“The inability of security agencies to fashion effective strategies to degrade or decimate these terrorists and bandits has rendered most of our communities desolate.
“The full weight of the law is hardly brought to bear on criminal elements. Our people watch helplessly as criminal elements hold sway in many communities. This must not be allowed to continue.”
Meanwhile, the deputy governor conveyed the condolences of the Kaduna State Government and condemned the killings in strong terms, when she arrived the palace of the Agwatyap, Dominic Yahaya.
She further stated that the state government had since last week been working with the military and other security agencies on the unfortunate situation.
She immediately directed the State Emergency Management Agency to carry out an immediate assessment and provide assistance to the affected citizens.
In his response, the monarch thanked the deputy governor and the state government for the visit.
Yahaya also expressed sadness over the violent attacks, which he described as shocking, coming after a period of relative peace amid many spirited efforts by well-meaning individuals to promote peaceful coexistence among all people living in the Chiefdom.
The Administrator, Kafanchan Municipal Authority, Mrs. Pheobe Sukai-Yayi, and the Chairman of Zangon-Kataf Local Government, Mr. Francis Sani, were in attendance.
